Frequently Asked Questions

Is Naxan recyclable?

Yes, Naxan is completely recyclable at the end of its life cycle. Furthermore, all waste materials originating during production are reintroduced to the production process.

How does it compare to timber?

Naxan has the best of timber—such as look and feel—without all the tedious maintenance. No greying, swelling, cracking, splintering and no pest infestation. It is also greatly resilient to harsh weather conditions and water, including salt water and chlorine water.

What is Naxan made of?

Naxan is produced by the interaction of rice husk (~60%), rock salt (~22%) and proprietary additives(~18%). It does not contain any wood.

How is it different from other composite materials?

Naxan can be processed like wood – milled, cut, sanded, screwed, stapled and stained or left in its natural finish. It does not get extremely hot under the sun, nor slippery when wet. It has been certified as the most resilient composite material against bushfires (BAL-40).

We believe Naxan stands as the cheapest option in the long run. While Naxan requires little-to-no maintenance, timber requires constant maintenance which greatly increases the price over the years. In addition, other composite materials require complete disposal of damaged boards while Naxan boards can be processed and fixed in case of damage.

Is it expensive?
